BW Mark #011

This is a mascot style mark from a project that I worked on that was really fun. While this mark didn't make it as the final mark for this brand, there's a huge story behind it.
First of all, let's talk about what it's trying to communicate - it's trying to communicate a warm and competent face of a brand which is a direct representation of the person that I was branding this (it was also a personal brand). I was experimenting with putting a literal face on it. The other thing that was really fun was trying to figure out how can I create the letters W and M as they were part of the name of the company. Naturally, I did it in the hair, but it could also be the eyebrows where one eyebrow is furled down, indicating the mascot is thinking intently about how to solve a problem.
I also, as with all marks, try to see where this icon mark breaks down legibility wise. I was really happy that it made it really far down almost to favicon size and it was still very legible.
I think this taught me that it's okay to be illustrative with a logo if its communication is on point, and you just have to experiment and see where it breaks down, see what adjustments need to be made, and just keep rocking and rolling with being creative and exploring bold ideas.
